Description
Bammy, also known as Jamaican bammy or Jamaican cassava bread, was consumed since pre-Columbian times. It descended from flatbread eaten by the Arawaks, Jamaica’s original inhabitants.
For centuries bammy was the bread staple for rural Jamaicans, bought from local vendors. This was until the cheaper, imported wheat flour breads became popular in the post-World War II era.
In the 1990s, the United Nations and the Jamaican government established a program to revive bammy production and to market it as a modern, convenient food product.
Jamaican Products offers the 8 pack cocktail sized bammies, each with an average 5.75cm diameter.  Traditionally served as a side dish with fish, but can be offered with ackee and salt fish, jerk chicken, meat, avocado or other side dishes. Be creative and see what you can serve bammy with.
Bammy can be baked, fried or steamed.
